"Working
as a Plein-Air Artist, I paint My subjects are subtle and dramatic natural on-site conditions, mountains, hillsides, cliffs, winds, brewing storms or even a tranquil misty fog along the lagoon or a sea coast. I've stood at the
edge of a lagoon as a northeaster rolled in and blew my easel and canvas
on to the ground. With the wind whipping at my face. I felt the fleeing
beauty and power of nature, as it vanishes from this area."
PROFILE
Born in New
York, David attended the high school of Art & Design, The Art Student’s
League, and Parsons School of Design, New York. Working as a plein-air
artist, he paints landscapes and seascapes of California using hand
mixed acrylics. He enjoys painting the human figure in his cityscapes. He studied with
Joseph Albers, who taught color theory at Parsons. It opened a door
and gave David a new view to see with. When he came to Southern California
thirty years ago, he entered another period of creative growth. Realizing
that the light was so powerful here, this would be interpreted into
his work. He studied painting with Vincent Farrell (Laguna Beach artist),
learned from Vincent composition, color, and discipline. David has exhibited
throughout the United States and his paintings are in many private collections
in the United States and Europe. He is a member of the Plein-Air Painters
of San Diego and the California Art Club, San Diego Regional Chapter. |
