ARTIST’S STATEMENT

"I create contemporary paintings in oil and acrylic that draw the viewer in and rewards them for their perception. The paintings are generally of a medium size, being about 24x30 and up to 30x40.

My work mixes elements from Surreal, Impressionistic, Abstract, and Figurative. The paintings are called "Dualist". This refers to the two distinct styles of art being painted onto one canvas. The frames are painted onto the canvas in a realistic manner in this series. The paintings inside represent his mastery of the other schools of art. The final result leaves the viewer questioning what is real and what is not in these paintings. This is a twist on Pop Commercialism via Andy Warhol. It begs the question, "is the packaging as important as the actual product?" The recurring theme in the works is that of searching vast landscapes. Those that include figurative elements showcase a reflective quality within the expressions. The paintings take elements from the Masters of the last 400 years and mold them into something completely new.

These paintings are collected by and intended for a discriminating audience. They are for those who like to be on the inside track when something new and exciting is emerging. From previous showings, I've seen anyone from 8 to 80 years old enjoying these paintings and excited to see something new."
